After the Open Studio: What Comes Next?

Last Friday and Saturday, we opened the doors of Atelier V&A for the very first time.

What began as sketches, endless conversations and a shared obsession with textures and stories became something real, a space filled with people, curiosity and the excitement of possibility. Our open studio was more than an event… it was a build-up of energy, feedback and collaboration that left us both full of gratitude and full of questions.

The Power of Showing Up

Over the few days, designers, collaborators, media, friends and family (my new Singapore family) walked through our creative playground. They touched, asked, lingered and imagined. They told us what resonated, what surprised them and where they saw opportunity.

It reminded us of something we hold close: design is not just about objects — it’s about connection. Every question, pause, or photo taken in our showroom felt like a dialogue, a thread in a much larger story of craft and community.

The Conversations Continue

We left those days not with a sense of completion, but with a spark for what’s next. Open studio is not the finish line, it’s the beginning of relationships to nurture, ideas to prototype and collaborations to explore.

Some of the conversations already underway include:

  • Local artists and art nights — creating evenings of still-life drawing, storytelling and making.

  • Styling evenings — intimate sessions exploring how to layer textures, florals, and objects in ways that transform a space.

  • Boutique Fair bouquets — designing personalised sculptural florals that reflect a brand’s colours and identity for their stand or retail space.

  • Our first retail collaboration — curating a corner within a retail space on Orchard, bringing craftsmanship into a new context.

And this is just the beginning. We are also exploring:

  • Hosting maker spotlights with Singapore artisans — conversations, demonstrations and collaborations.

  • Offering the studio as a space for creative residencies — giving designers, florists, or artists time to prototype and showcase.

  • Curating seasonal installations that change with the calendar, so each visit feels like stepping into a new chapter.

  • Trade evenings for designers and architects — intimate gatherings where we can talk openly about challenges, opportunities and new possibilities for collaboration.

  • Photography sessions in our showroom zones — embracing the “creative playground” idea by opening the space for shoots, storytelling and content-making.

The What Next

So where do we go from here?

  • Continuing conversations with collaborators who share our love of craft.

  • Exploring opportunities to bring our sculptural pieces into retail, commercial and residential spaces.

  • Opening our showroom to more moments of dialogue, experimentation and inspiration.

Just the Beginning

An open studio is an unveiling, but it is also an invitation. To those who came, thank you for stepping into our story. To those we haven’t met yet — our door is open and this is just the beginning.

Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing updates about our upcoming events, collaborations and residencies right here. If you’d like to be the first to know, join our Inner Atelier mailing list here.
