Atelier V&A on CNA938: A Conversation on Craft, Design and Intentional Spaces
Yesterday, we joined Melanie Oliveiro on CNA938 Culture Club for a conversation on design, creativity and artisanal craftsmanship in Singapore.
The chat explored why Atelier V&A was conceived as more than a traditional showroom. Designed as a living studio and creative playground, the space brings together sculptural furniture, curated objects and florals shaped by material, touch and human experience.
During the interview, we spoke about the idea of furniture as functional art. Pieces that hold their own as sculptural forms, yet remain approachable and practical for everyday living. We also discussed the importance of slowing down the design process, choosing materials with intention and creating spaces that encourage connection rather than consumption.
At its core, the conversation reflected our belief that good design should feel grounded, tactile and meaningful over time.
What stayed with us most was how generous and thoughtful the conversation felt. Melanie has a rare ability to put people at ease while drawing out the deeper thinking behind the work. We genuinely loved the experience and left feeling energised, inspired and ready for more conversations like this.
If this discussion resonated with you, we hope it is the beginning of many more open dialogues around craft, design and the evolving creative landscape in Singapore.
