How It All Began | Notes from our Atelier

Some stories start with a plan. Ours started with an introduction.

An Australian supplier told me, “You and Venetia will get on like a house on fire.” She was right.

At first, it was small things—custom furniture projects, a few pieces we sketched and made together, restoring some beautiful vintage finds for clients. I would often find myself in Venetia’s space, dreaming out loud about all the things I wanted to create in it. We would talk for hours — about materiality, about bold design, about what we felt was missing in the market.

There was a moment when the conversations shifted. We kept circling back to the same gap: there wasn’t enough out there for people who wanted tablescapes and accessories that felt oversized, sculptural, dramatic. Pieces that could hold a space and tell a story.

And then Venetia said “Why don’t we just do it?”

So, we did.

We went to Bali and experimented with resin (spoiler: it was a spectacular fail). But like all creative failures, it gave us the clarity to pivot, refine and push forward. Less than a year later, here we are—launching Atelier V&A.

This blog will be where we share our journey, the making, the missteps, the unexpected sparks of inspiration and the stories behind the pieces. Because for us, design is not just about how something looks, but about the conversations it holds.

Welcome to our creative playground.
